About AITC

Founded by Mamata Banerjee in 1998 after she broke from the INC over its West Bengal alliance strategy. AITC ended 34 years of Left Front rule in West Bengal at the 2011 election, and Banerjee has been Chief Minister continuously since, making AITC the dominant force in the state for over a decade.
