About BRS
Founded on 27 April 2001 by K. Chandrashekar Rao as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), with the single goal of carving a separate Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh — achieved in 2014. KCR became Telangana's first Chief Minister and governed for two full terms, until losing to Congress in 2023. Renamed Bharat Rashtra Samithi in 2022 as KCR sought a national role; currently in opposition in Telangana.
