About IPFT

Founded in 1997 around the demand for a separate 'Twipraland' state for Tripura's indigenous communities. Allied with the BJP for the 2018 Tripura Assembly election, winning 8 of 9 seats contested, and became a junior coalition partner in the resulting BJP-led state government, with N. C. Debbarma holding ministerial portfolios from 2018–2023.
