About YSRCP

Founded in 2011 by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy after splitting from the INC, following the death of his father Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy — a former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister — and a succession dispute within Congress. Built a strong base through padayatra (foot-march) campaigning; won the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Assembly election in a landslide (151 of 175 seats), with Jagan as Chief Minister. Lost heavily in 2024 to the TDP–JSP–BJP alliance.
